The Pain That Never Sleeps

Innocent eyes search through the dark
Anticipating better dreams.
Frightened, weary, she waits under the covers
Closing her eyes to shut out the pain.
The things she see... The voice she hears...
Agony! Bitter agony.

She screams. Breathing in gasps, trying to rise.
Opening her eyes to find she's lost in demise.

The night claws, ripping at her flesh.
She's asleep... She fell asleep.

Twisting and turning she chokes underneath the black velvet.
The cloak that he wears.
It's him. He's near...

Suddenly the heated breath draws suffocating her senses as his weight has her pinned.

"I can't move!" Her heart thumps aloud. And looking up she sees the dark cloud.
Her tormentor! With white teeth he beams.
Smiling as a shark down at her.
"Such tender meat" He leans

Down down and harder still like bricks crushing her life.
And as she claws sobs break free, crying...
She still fights!

Over and over
Again and again and again
Somebody tell me...
Will this nightmare ever end?
